The Ulysses S. Grant Memorial
(South Artillery Group)
American Civil War general and U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant on his favorite horse Cincinnatus.
On the pedestal below are reliefs of two Infantry group.
On the south side of the pedestal is the plaque bearing the south Infantry Group and the statue of the Artillery Group.
To the north is the North Infantry Group plaque and the Cavalry Group statue.
Surrounding the main pedestal are four shorter pedestals with bronze lions guarding both the United States flag and the flags of the Army.
The memorial sits below the west front of the United States Capitol. It faces west toward the Lincoln Memorial honoring the wartime president. Directly between the two, is the Washington Monument obelisk.
