Prometheus & Hermes

Prometheus, the wise and cunning champion of mankind, who bestowed upon the mortals, the Fire of Mt. Olympus. He is portrayed holding a great torch and is seated on a gear, with his right foot rested on a broken colum.

Hermes, messenger of the gods, interpreter and a guide to the Underworld. Among many other things, he is the god of, commerce and invention (His invention of fire parallels him with Prometheus.), weight and measurement, literature and the spoken word, patrons, boundries and travelers. He is portrayed, at half size, knealing beside Prometheus and wearing his winged snadles and helmet.



Layed out inbetween the two figures is an offering of wheat.
